They mean well but show up 3-4 times a week with no warning. My spouse says 'that's just how they are.' I'm exhausted and my home never feels like mine. I don't want to start a war.

We've been together 4 years. This is their once-in-a-lifetime role. I have a good but not amazing job here, plus my whole friend group. I love them, but I'm scared of resenting them if I give up my life and it doesn't work out.

My mom's dementia is getting worse and she can't live alone anymore. I'm up for a promotion I've worked years for. My siblings live far away. If I take a leave I lose momentum I may never get back — but if I don't, I'll never forgive myself. How do people make peace with a choice like this?
